A Letter to Our Shareholders

2021 Letter

To the stakeholders of the operations of the family of businesses managed by Grant Coultrup,

Coultrup Designs once again passed a number of milestones in the year 2022. Significant among these were 1) the acquisition and execution of operations at Grant Coultrup Productions, 2) the projects completed and interest created at AMPEL, and 3) the integration of physical space into the business model.

Principles

Coultrup Designs exists to provide legal structure and business management of a group of organizations. In this way, success is measured by the level of success experienced by those client organizations.

While strategy varies from business to business, a vision stands over all moves made. On a grand, evolutionary scale, this vision is best understood through a reading of The Great Migrations of the 21st Century. On a specific scale, we believe that the future is digital, therefore we will continue to invest in systems which realize physical world items and convert them into digital assets for interaction in meta.

Documentation and feedback loops will continue to be at the heart of all developmental activities. We will continue to invest in systems which assess the practicality of implementing new systems and processes.

“It’s always better with people” is a quote which Grant has stood by since inception. A useful note, however, is that having the right people is important. Keeping producers and developers involved rather than complainants and pessimists is certainly a key part of the business strategy. A-players love working with other A-players.

Organizational Report

Overview of organizations currently under management:

  • AMPEL, Inc: this organization facilitates the development and application of fabrication technology. While additive manufacturing via 3D printing was the initial method of fabrication, it is no longer the sole practice.

  • Grant Coultrup Productions LLC had a good year. This organization facilitates most activities involving content creation and publication. Chief among these are activities involving the video drone, an sUAS capable of capturing UHD video and topographical data. A YouTube channel falls under the GCPro umbrella, as does the series of audiobooks produced by Grant. Though Grantés World, a personal podcast show, has been on hold, it is certainly still a desired production.

  • Twentynineteen Clothing: this organization facilitates the production of clothing merchandise and some media content. This organization has been dormant for some time but more art has been added to the blockchain and the brand remains with strong potential.

Overview of organizations currently under advising:

  • Netrendity Networks: this consortium facilitates the production of live media and precision data for sporting events. Due to the background and extreme competence of the organization’s actors the network not only continues to provide its production service but in many cases, often unofficially, provides direction and consultation for the running of events at which the services are provided.

While Coultrup Designs is involved with projects across an increasingly diverse scope of product offerings, it must be stated the a diner exists of too much breadth. Well managed, this great diversity provides unique experiences and powerful perspective. Poorly managed, this breadth threatens the effectiveness and mental health of this organization’s officers.

In 2022 the organization had the stated goals of achieving the following, and with respective results:

  • To grow revenues in all brands…

    • New projects were undertaken and revenues expanded in all but one brand!

  • To establish an office space…

    • Office space was secured at the Red Hill studio!

  • To build relationships and involved more experience…

    • Partners were made more involved in the process, though perhaps not to the greatest extent desired.

In 2023, the organization looks to build on those and achieve the following:

  • To utilize feedback loops in strengthening the product across all brands.

  • To enhance communication between officers, actors, and clients in all brands.

  • As businesses grow, ensure that their structure is legitimate, optimized, and transparent for auditors.

  • To continue building relationships and involving qualified partners.

Revisiting Mindset

Core to the success of this family of businesses is the mindset with which they are approached. A few of the most important are listed here:

  • “It’s always better with people”. While Grant has both breadth and depth to his skill set and seemingly boundless energy for execution, he cannot do everything himself. Involving qualified people, the right people, is center to the mission.

  • “Action is everything”. Following on a mindset expressed in last year’s letter, the stagnation we see among peers through pensive inaction is strictly frowned upon here. It remains the philosophy of this organization that we would rather lose money learning and producing than save money doing nothing. Action is everything. Investors unable to tolerate this philosophy are eschewed.

  • “It’s not your money, it’s just your turn to spend it”. This is a personal philosophy of Grant which he brings to his business management. As a result, the most powerful financial statement is often not the balance sheet but the cash flows.

Above all, we must thank those who have supported the organization in any way whether monetarily, intellectually, or motivationally. this organization is built on the concept of “we” and “us”, rather than “I” or “me”.

Sincerely,

Grant Coultrup
